We invite you to explore and enjoy these new pieces, and to give us your feedback. We are considering a larger scale project that will offer complete choral settings of the Proper of the Mass in English, utilizing the official and approved antiphon translations that are employed in the Lumen Christi Series. Your feedback will be greatly helpful as we move forward with this project!
Frank La Rocca is an internationally emerging figure in the recent renaissance in sacred choral music, standing alongside composers such as Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, Arvo Pärt, James MacMillan, and Ola Gjeilo. La Rocca’s compositional style is at once sublime, transcendent, and unique, while remaining accessible.
A professor of music composition and theory at California State University for over 30 years, and trained as an academic modernist, Frank La Rocca was compelled in recent years by his Catholic faith to turn to composing sacred music almost exclusively. He is quickly becoming one of the leading composers in the world of Catholic sacred music.
His recent CD, In This Place, has been climbing the Amazon charts, and is a great introduction to La Rocca’s distinctive style. Below is a taste of his music.
We are very excited to work more with Frank La Rocca in the near future to help advance the mission of Illuminare Publications: A renewal of sacred music in the life of the Church today.
